The recently launched title - Thief which is referred to as a prequel of the series is claimed to be a disappointment. The game received generally mixed reviews from critics, with IGN rating it 6.8
Overall, the FPS didn't bring out much as promised, mainly focusing on stealth. Negative points came in from the game's "poor" lip-sync and a fuzzy character detail with a jumbled-up game play.
Also, the melee combat, which is a last resort, is something that made us loose the taste. The weak story line and less-detailed 'The City' are some things that will make you want to turn off your console.
The final verdict would be, Thief is definitely not worth the shot for the PlayStation and Xbox however, if you're looking for something to bore you out, it's decent for windows.
